Pork Chop, Green Beans Topped w/Basil Butter

A Pork Chop Delicacy

Here's a delicious recipe I found on PlateJoy.com for pork chops.

The pork chop is probably one of the most popular cuts of red meat. You might see variations called different names: loin, rib, sirloin, top loin, or blade chops. While all types are a good source of iron, zinc, protein, and potassium, the fat content varies depending on the specific part of the pig the chop came from.

For example, a sirloin pork chop is one of the leaner cuts, and tenderloin is the leanest. Other cuts — New York, porterhouse, and rib-eye — have more total fat than a sirloin, but there’s really only a small amount of additional saturated fat.

Next is the basil butter.

Once the butter melts in a pan, you’ll add the basil — any other herb you have available would also work — to let the flavors combine for about a minute.
Once the pork and greens are done, drizzle this sauce over everything.

Pork Chops w/ Green Beans topped w/ Basil Butter

Ingredients

4 sprays cooking spray

1 ½ lbs pork chops (6 oz, 6 oz, 6 oz, 6 oz portions)

1 ½ lbs green beans

4 cups cherry tomatoes

3 ½ tbsp butter

½ cup fresh basil

4 whole grain rolls

Directions

STEP 1

Heat a heavy skillet over medium-heat and spray with cooking spray. Pat pork chops dry and season with salt and pepper. Add to the pan and cook 3 minutes per side, or until center registers 145 degrees F. Transfer to a cutting board and tent with foil.

STEP 2

While pork cooks, trim ends off green beans. Add to the empty skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook 5 minutes, until lightly browned. Transfer to a plate. Add cherry tomatoes and cook 3 minutes, until beginning to burst. Transfer to the same plate.

STEP 3

Melt butter in the empty skillet over medium heat. Add basil and stir to infuse, 1 minute.

STEP 4

Divide pork, beans and tomatoes onto plates. Top with basil butter and enjoy with a roll or cornbread.

Enjoy!
