New Year, New Goals
Think SMART
Ok y'all...
We're nearing the end of the 2023, and as it draws to a close this can be a good time to consider new intentions and goals for 2024.
Though it's pretty common for resolutions to revolve around upping the physical activity and lowering the pounds, our priorities and life circumstances vary so our goals should be specific to us. 👌
Goals could be as simple as:
- taking a break from social media
- learning a new skill
- drinking less
- reading more
- practicing healthy sleeping habits
Give it some thought, and whenever you're ready to proceed (even if it's well into 2024), familiarize yourself with how to set SMART goals.
Whatever meaningful changes you decide on for 2024, set them with SMART intentions in mind.
- SPECIFIC - not vague or general, like "I plan to lose weight for the summer". Be Specific and clearly define them. E.g. "I plan to lose 4 lbs. in a month by losing 1lb. a week for 4 weeks."
- MEASURABLE - it can be tracked, has a tangible outcome, and can be evaluated for progress. E.g. taking the stairs 5x weekly, walking 3k steps daily, or swimming for 30 minutes 1x a week.
- ATTAINABLE - is practical; not highly difficult to achieve. Break up larger goals into smaller ones, and short-term goals vs long-term goals to make them more attainable to increase your likelihood of success.
- RELEVANT/Realistic - it makes sense, maintains your motivation, and is feasible for your age, health, and capabilities.
- TIMELY - clear timeframe and deadline. This allows you to stay focused, prevent procrastination, achieve milestones, and assess whether you're on or off track.
It's essential to incorporate these elements so there's a structured framework to guide you and keep you motivated and accountable.
💪😁
And that's that, my friends
Go forth with thy SMART goals!
And I wish you all great success in 2024!

SMART - good advice, simple and doable!
ReplyDeleteAccomplishing goals can be quite challenging to complete if made haphazardly. Learning to break down goals and tasks into smaller, more manageable ones was a major key to my success initially. It's becomes easier with each reached goal!
DeleteLooking forward to the challenges & goals for the New Years 👍🏽
